HDR SOAR Centre

The SOAR Centre was established in August 2009 to offer a central service for Higher Degree by Research and Honours candidates. The service is run by HDR candidates (SOAR Ambassadors), employed to offer support in research skills training and career development.

In 2012, we will build on our success, and expand on new initiatives such as our peer-group training sessions (SOAR Sessions), and we will implement a new Casual Employment System specifically for HDR and Honours candidates, called E-Recruit.

In the SOAR Centre, we provide:
  • Support for cultural, academic and campus transition

  • Opportunities for career development and casual employment

  • Advice for building research skills with peer-to-peer support and online training

  • Resources for your studies including access to computers and e-books

  • There is a SOAR Ambassador available on Mount Lawley and Joondalup campus every day, and we encourage all ECU research students to drop-in for a coffee or tea. Appointments are also available for research skills support.

On behalf of the SOAR Ambassadors and the Graduate Research School, we look forward to seeing you in the SOAR Centre!

    Professor Joe Luca
    Dean, Graduate Research School
