When the Office of Research and Innovation is notified that an application has been awarded funding, ORI will send the first named Chief Investigator an Acceptance Form for completing. By signing this form the Chief Investigator is acknowledging that he/she accepts the conditions of the grant, and can be successfully completed within the awarded budget. It is the Chief Investigator’s responsibility to arrange for the Head of School to sign the form prior to its submission to ORI. The Office of Research and Innovation will arrange for the University to formally accept the award once the signed Acceptance Form has been returned to ORI.
Please note that only the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Operations) and the Director, Research and Innovation are authorised to legally bind the University with respect research contracts. All acceptances and contracts provided by funding bodies direct to researchers must therefore be forwarded to ORI, who will review as necessary, obtain institutional signoff, and return to the funding body. The review will give consideration to issues including the funds being provided and the invoicing schedule; ownership of intellectual property; rights to publish; liability and insurance; confidentiality, including access to documents; and legislative compliance. Likewise, any requests, from either the researcher or the funding body to vary an existing agreement must be forwarded to ORI.
