2009 ERA Trial

2009 ERA Trial

In 2009 an ERA Trial of the first two discipline clusters was undertaken. ORI successfully submitted the University’s first ERA trial submission for the Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences (PCE) discipline cluster on 3 July 2009. The Humanities and Creative Arts (HCA) trial submission was also submitted successfully on 20 August 2009.

Evaluation outcomes for PCE were released on 30 November and the HCA outcomes were released on 14 December 2009 (see below). The ARC have publicly released outcomes of the trial evaluations aggregated to the national level but not broken down to the level of individual institutions. Analyses of their own disciplines have been made available to individual institutions. For 2010, however, institutional results will be publicly released.

2009 Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences (PCE) ERA Trial Outcomes

On 30 November 2009 the ARC released the PCE Trial outcomes, aggregated to a national level.

ECU did not have any Units of Evaluation that reached the assessable threshold for evaluation (the threshold for the PCE Trial was 50 indexed journal articles for a Field of Research). However, the material ECU submitted to the PCE Trial did inform the data in the National Report. The National Report contains background information concerning the Trial and national rating profiles for each Unit of Evaluation in the PCE Cluster.

2009 Humanities and Creative Arts (HCA) ERA Trial Outcomes

On 14 December 2009 the ARC released the HCA Trial outcomes, aggregated to a national level.

Unlike PCE, ECU did meet the minimum thresholds for evaluation for several Units of Evaluation (the threshold for the HCA Trial was 20 eligible research outputs over the reference period). ORI are currently analysing the results.

The National Reports for both PCE and HCA, which contain background information concerning the Trial and national rating profiles for each Unit of Evaluation, have been released and are available on the ARC website.
