Research Performance
ECU measures research productivity as part of the Higher Education Research Data Collection for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). This information forms the basis of the Research Activity Index, ECU's research performance incentive scheme.
Under an initiative of the previous Commonwealth Government, the quality and impact of research at Australian universities was to be assessed as part of a Research Quality Framework.
In February 2008, the Government announced the introduction of the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative, which will replace the RQF.
